During we use LED lights, we would find, the higher temperature is, the lower lumen output is, so, why is it situation a problem for led street light price?

Normally, the reasons are, Chip quality, solid crystal bottom plastic, phosphor, fluorescent glue, brackets, andcooling.

Let’s analyze the reasons from the inside structure of the led street light price andled products. All these test results are from the top LED High Bay company–ENELTEC.

Test A:

We use Nichia183 LED, no heat sink, link it in the circuit, put the soldering iron on the foot of led. If the temperature is not very high, the lumen output of led would be lower, when the temperature  reach 380℃, the led would stop working at once. Now, then voltage of led would be lower than 1 V, but the PN is still good, it means the led is not dead. Then, if you low down the temperature of  soldering iron, the lumen output would me higher.

Test B:

We use 3528 white LED, put the soldering iron to make the hot, 260℃ and 290℃. Heat them by 260℃ for 1 minute, and then test the lumen after it’s cool.  Then heat them by 290℃ for 1 minute,  and then test the lumen after it’s cool.

We tested 5 pcs of LED, the 260℃ for 1 minute, the lumen is not lower, but even higher!  Please check the data listed below.

Now, let’s analyze the results.

From test A, in the high temperature, the lumen get lower, even stop working, when the temperature get lower, the lumen would be back to normal.

From test B, After the high temperature, the lumen is even higher, so, the lumen get lower only by long time high temperature working. So, we should do the correct design and calculate the led street lights price.

In China, we start a lot of new lighting products, try to replace the CFLs by LED  Lights, technically it’s a good plan, but it’s very differet to be realized.

In 2010, some other led company do a demo project in Nanjing, try to replace all the HID Lamps by led street lights, at that time, the price of led lights are  about 1000 USD, and the price of HID lamps are about 350 USD. 170 units of led street lights were installed,  but 2 years later, LED street lights problems happened, 80% of them are not working.

So, why the led street lights problems happened? During the 2 years, the LED company replace all the LED Drivers, but the lamps are still stop working one by one.

Actually,  the led street lights problems already a big problem for LED street lightcompanies.  As we all know, the power supply and led chips are the 2 problems for the lifespan. Till now, some led companies already succeeded in small LED products, like LED Spot Lights, but the big led lighting, even outdoor LED Products would be very difficult to design for most of the LED Companies.

I’ve ever talked to the Chief designer of Eneltec (top LED High Bay company), the reason why all the LED products of Eneltec offer a 2 years warranty, and the fail percent would be under 0.3%, are just because we use the best materials, best components. To improve sales turnover, all the LED Companies want to reduce the cost of products, but we should not save the cost by low level materials and components.

It’s said, China Government would purchase more than 4 million units of LED Street Lights, the total orders would be about 8 billion RMB, so it’s such big led street lights tenders.

About the 4 million units of LED Street Ligths, they would be installed in 10 provinces, 50 cities, 100 districts. For this big orders, China Government would select about 100 good LED lighting companies. In the front of such big led street lights tenders, all the companies would try their best to get these orders, but how to get them?

Based on the report, the quality led companies should meet with the requirements listed below.

1. Located in mainland China.

2. Registered capital is more than 10 million RMB, Corporate asset-liability ratio is lower than 60%.

3. All the products should be tested by Chinese national electricity and light detection.

All the orders would be made directly from the China government to LED Companies, all the bidding working start from Apr 8, 2012.

To catch the 8 billion led street lights tenders, what shall we do? Would Eneltec get the orders? Actually, Eneltec was known as the best LED High Bay factory, but now, LED Street Lights are also the main products. In 2011, the turnover of LED Street Lighting is about 15% of the total turnover of Eneltec Group. The main point to get the hugh order, is not only the prices, but also the quality and services.
